The Only Hair Care Guide You’ll Need – From Washing to Oils to Beating the Weather

Hair loss and brittleness is common enough for both men and women, and though women tend to experience less dramatic episodes than men, worsening environmental conditions and the steady demands of stress-inducing modern lifestyles have impacted the hair quality of all. You can’t count on your fingers the number of times you’ve heard someone say that their mom always has better hair than them. As such, there are an increasing number of people turning to their dermatologist and the internet for hair care.

It’s a misconception that you should wash your hair everyday. The scalp produces sebum, a natural oily substance that gives that it greasiness that gets icky after a while. The thing is, oil is good for your hair and natural substances are far better than manufactured ones. Through daily washing, you remove the sebum from your hair and the body simply produces more sebum in response – making your hair even more greasy.

The best way to wash your hair is as follows: Use warm water. Make sure your hair is combed before you begin, so that the water will flow through all of your hair. With your hair slightly wet, massage the shampoo (remember to pick one suitable for your hair type!) from the tips to the scalp, all across your head. Rinse your hair thoroughly. Do it again if necessary.

Next, you’ll need the conditioner. Conditioners are what give your hair a softer and smoother texture. They contain oils and moisturizers that protect your hair for long periods of time. Apply it to just the hair, not the scalp, and wash first with warm water and then cold water.

Drying is just as important – don’t roughly move the towel over your head. Gently squeeze the water out of your hair, moving the towel from the roots to the tips of your hair. Do this thoroughly.

Blow Drying

Blow drying can severely damage your hair in the long run. This is why it is advised to use special hair products on your hair before you begin using the blow drying. The high temperature of a blow dryer is not good for your hair, so don’t overdo it.

Separate your hair into different sections – the top, the sides and the back. Move the blow dryer from the scalp to the tips at a distance of about 15cms (6 inches).

You’ll want to lift the roots of the hair to dry it properly. Start from the back, move onto the sides and finish with the top. Don’t blow dry often – even twice a week is a bit much. Limit it to once or twice a week and don’t do it during the summers. Your hair will be exposed to too much heat.

Hair Type

Whether you’ve got normal, oily, dry or some combination of hair plays a role in its maintenance. In fact, it is a criticalaspect of hair care. Oily hair will require daily washing, while the other requires periodic washing. Dry hair should only be washed once a week and tends to turn brittle fast. If you’ve got a hybrid type, then it’s some combination of this, but is more often than not dry, prone to splitting and of moderate oiliness.

Curling Irons

The temperature you should use to curl your hair will depend on the thickness of your hair. Thin hair requires a lower temperature (338 F/170 C), normal hair a medium temperature (392 F/200 C) and thick hair a higher temperature (446 F/230 C). This is vital.

Depending on whether you want cylindrical or conical curls, you’ll have to use different curling irons. The longer you curl, the more emphatic the curl will be. Deep curls requires about 10 seconds, moderate curls about 7 seconds and light curls about 5 seconds.

Don’t ever curl wet hair and don’t do it every day. Clean your iron well after use.

Choosing a Hair Straightener and How to Use it

Here again, thin hair will need temperatures of about 338 F/170 C and thick air 446 F/230 C.

There are three types of straighteners: ceramic, tourmaline and titanium. The first slides through hair easily and is suitable for regular use. The second is better for hard curly hair, as it prevents static electricity. The last is the kind that is used in professional hairstyling.

When you straighten your hair, start with applying a heat protection spray and let that dry. Straighten from the sides and the back, moving from the roots to the end. Then work on the top of your head. Don’t forget to brush!

Use this no more than once a week and never hold a straighten in one place for more than 2 – 3 seconds.

Hair Oils

Oils are an excellent supplement to hair care, and they can be mixed with hair masks and other treatments.

There are different oils for different purposes. As we mentioned, hair care is a highly personalized matter!

Avocado oil is used to nourish and moisturize hair. To use it, mix 5 tablespoons of avocado oil with 3 – 5 tablespoons of coconut oil, heat the mixture and apply it your hair. Leave for 20 minutes before rinsing off.

Argan oil nourishes and regenerates your hair. You can use it instead of hair conditioner too, either in its pure form or mixed with another oil.

Coconut oil is the go-to oil for repairing damaged hair. It can help hair regain its natural vitality and is commonly used in hair massages. Add a few drops into your shampoo when you wash.

Jojoba oil is an increasingly popular oil that enriches and protects your hair. It’s great for a hair massage. Just apply a few drops to your fingers and spread the oil thoroughly across your hair.

Burdock oil, like coconut oil, is used to strengthen and repair the hair’s damaged structure. To use it heat a few tablespoons up and spread it across your hair. Wrap your hair for about an hour, and rinse off.

Hair Masks

You can also turn to hair masks to take hair care a step further.

One such mask is a nourishing mask for normal hair types. You’ll need 2 tablespoons of burdock oil, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and 10 drops of each of Vitamin A and E. Heat this mixture, mix it thoroughly and apply. Rinse your hair properly after an hour.

For weak hair, you can use a strengthening mask that is a combination of 1 teaspoon of castor oil, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of aloe juice. Mix these well and apply these to you hair half an hour before washing. Rinse thoroughly.

If you’ve got damaged and dry hair, mix 2 tablespoons of sea buckthorn oil and a teaspoon of lemon juice. Heat the oil, mix the lemon juice in and apply the mixture. Put on a shower cap, wrap your head in a towel and leave your hair like this for half an hour.

It’s a little more complicated for oily hair types. You’re going to need 2 tablespoons of dry mustard, 4 tablespoons of warm water, 3 tablespoons of either black or green clay, 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice. Mix all the ingredients and apply to your hair for 30 – 40 minutes. Wash normally afterwards.

A Healthy Diet Makes a Big Difference

For perfect hair, you’ll need balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals. It cannot be overstated how important a healthy diet is for hair care. What you’re looking for is vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, vitamin E, omega-3, selenium and zinc.

Vitamin A stimulates cell regeneration and slows hair aging. Good sources are liver, cottage cheese, eggs, carrots and pumpkin. Vitamin B accelerates hair growth and gives it its shine and elasticity. You can source it from cereal, nuts, bran, eggs and wholemeal bread.

Citrus fruit, kiwi, sea buckthorn, currants and rose hips offer vitamin C, which improves blood circulation and stimulates hair growth. Vitamin E is vital, as nourishes hair roots and protects against UV rays. Good sources are nuts, seeds, eggs, leafy vegetables and vegetable oils, like coconut oil.

Omega-3 is good for the body overall, as it slows down the aging process and keeps the immune system strong. Get it from fish and seafood, flaxseed oil, avocados and walnuts. Zinc and selenium protect against environmental damage and can be sourced from eggs, beef, rye bread, milk and seafood.

And So Does Hair Color

Yes, hair color does matter.

For lightly colored hair, use peach, oil, jojoba, avocado or coconut oil for masks. You can maintain hair color by rising hair with and water and adding a little bit of lemon juice.

Olive oil or apricot kernel oil is more suitable for the maintenance of darkly colored hair. Citrus fruit-based essential oils also make the hair shine.

Redheads will need olive or apricot kernel oil as well for color maintenance. Burdock oil can make the hair softer.

Warm Weather and Cold Weather

During the colder seasons, use hats, blow dryers at low temperatures and room humidifiers to protect your hair. For nourishment, masks, serums, oils and vitamins work well.

During the warmer seasons, it’s hats again, along with sun protection products and the absence of blow dryers. To regenerate your hair, just like in the winters, ensure you get your dose of masks, serums, oils and vitamins.

While hair care is largely a matter of a healthy, diet and a good lifestyle, it’s likely that you’ll experience worsening hair quality as you grow older. In the event you find your hair turning frizzy and brittle, or encountering anxious phases of dramatic hair fall, you’ll have no choice but to turn hair care products to deal with it. Hair care products are highly individualized products, meaning not everyone can use the same product and expect the same results, because everyone’s natural hair state is different. They work only so much; truly healthy hair is knowing what your hair type, how to wash and dry it, and how to fashion it.

Everyone however wants their hair to be soft, silky and available in bulk. To do that, you’ll need to take certain steps to ensure that your hair grows healthily and supplement that if you’ve got more serious hair care problems. This guide will help you get started!

Best Hair Care Tips to Aid Natural Softness and Shine

When it comes to looking great, your hairs play a vital role and often it is women who give more importance to hairstyles than men. And since they have long hairs, giving importance to hair care becomes quite obvious. The best looks they can get is with long and straight hairs that look perfect and stands out. This is why girls and women give more prominence to hair straightening, in spite of its side effects. However, with few easy to follow and effective steps, you can retain the natural softness, shine, volume, and strength; even after a session of hair straightening.

1. Use of a hair protectant

Before you pick your straightening iron, consider applying a protective serum or a hair moisturizer. It forms a protective layer around your hairs that will drastically minimize the damage from hot iron. There are plenty of different types of serum that you can find. Choose the one that suits your hair type such as oily, dry, split ends, frizzy as serums are made specific to different conditions of hair.

2. Keep your hairs moist and not wet

This is one of the most basic har care tips and anyone attempting straightening must strictly follow this. Your hairs require to be just a little moist and not completely wet. Using hot iron directly on wet hair can cause more damage and can even burn your hair. It is best to let it dry up to 75% after the was and then you are ready to go.

3. Get rid of split ends

Frequent sessions of straightening results in split ends and the damage can increase if the problem is left unattended. You can overcome this side effects with regular trimming and get the splits end cut off. Do this couple of days after the straightening session and there is no harm if you get a trim more often too.

4. Herbal hair packs

There are plenty of natural ingredients that can be used in making DIY hair packs. Honey, yogurt, aloe vera, eggs, banana, etc are some of the natural ingredients that you can use to make a paste and apply to your hairs. You can create a mixture of two or more of these as well. There are various herb based packs that you can find on the market too. These packs do not have any side effects and since no chemical is used, your hair and scalp get natural hair care. So strong hairs can withstand the side effects of straightening. You can use these packs once or twice a week to get more benefits.

5. Benefits of oils

Your hair requires plenty of nutrients to protect itself and the best way to deliver them is through hair oils. You can use coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil and various other oils made using natural ingredients. Once you apply oil, your hairs tend to attract dust and dirt in the air. So protect it with a hot towel wrap after application and leave at least an hour before wash. This is recommended time for your hairs to absorb the nutrients from oils.

6. Post straightening hair care

Applying serum on your hairs after a straightening session can reduce the immediate impact of hot iron. Apply sufficient serum all over your hairs that works like a cooling agent. So the damage that can occur from the heat intensity of up to 180 degrees from the iron can be effectively reduced. Again, stick to the basic rules of choosing the right serum for your hair type.

7. Rejuvenation at a Spa

If your hair is subjected to constant heat from regular straightening, you need more than just DIY hair care. Getting a nice massage with a more intense serum application can help you overcome the side effects quickly and more effectively as well. So do not hesitate to get that professional level once in a while.

8. Do not wash soon after straightening

Washing hair immediately after straightening has similar effects of pouring water on a hot vessel. So give sufficient time for the hairs to cool down, however, you can use a dry shampoo to cool it quickly. Dry shampoo also helps in keeping hairs straight for longer and you can eliminate the need to wash your hairs too.

9. Conditioning your hair

It is important that you use a damage reduction conditioner after washing your hair. And once you rinse your hair, make sure to apply an after wash conditioner hat will remain to protect your hairs further.

Wedding as a Way of Honoring Unmet Grandmother

Madison Kantzer has never had a vision of her ideal wedding as the majority of girls have. For Madison wedding has always been a distant event so that she would prefer to think about it once there is a real marriage proposal. Despite having unusual women lifestyle and vision, one thing has always been clear for Madison: her fairy wedding day would be impossible without amazing beaded dress of her beloved grandmother she never met.

The big day came at the end of 2015 when Madison’s sweet love Adam Hoffman asked for her hand in marriage. After being engaged women lifestyle often changes dramatically impacting the enchantment of the wedding day for both bride and groom. However, this was not true for Madison and her fiance Adam. She knew nothing can spoil such an important event once she wears a magical dress belonged to her late grandmother who has always been a source of positive energy and inspiration for Madison.

Adele Schiff Greene, the grandmother of Madison, was a lady of refined taste so that the floor-length, beaded dress once belonged to her has been a family heirloom for many years. As a little girl admiring the dress, Madison had always felt proud of being a granddaughter of a lady with such an exquisite taste. Unfortunately, neither her mother Patricia Greene nor Madison herself did not have the pleasure to spend enough time with Adele. Patricia was only 14 when Adele passed away in 1969 while Madison had not had even a chance to see her alive.

Adele Schiff Greene passed away in her prime at the age of 40. It turned out to be an irreplaceable loss for the family. Cherishing the dress and keeping Adele alive in stories telling to the family members have become the only way of dealing with the grief.

According to Madison, her mother Patricia talks a lot about her grandmother. She also has adoptive parents Carl and Geraldine Simon who were friends of Adele willing to support the family after her death. They also tell a number of stories about Adele keeping this stylish woman and her lifestyle alive.

The stories reveal that Adele was ahead of her time in terms of women lifestyle. Madison’s grandmother stood out of the crowd among the majority of women of that time playing the role of housewives. This amazing lady was not only extremely stylish but also smart so that she had no doubts when decided to apply to law school.

The tradition of the family to tell stories about Adele Schiff Greene has helped Madison to reveal that she and her grandmother have so much in common. Exactly like her fascinating kinswoman, Madison is self-confident and truly believes that things she does are right.

The amazing dress has its own unique story that is very important for Madison and her family. The jewelry worn with it and photographs showing Adele wearing the incredible dress are those things that help to remember the original story.

More than half of the century ago, in 1966, the dress was purchased by Adel from Hirshleifers, an exclusive women lifestyle shop located in Manhasset, New York. Despite being bought in a popular shop, the designer of the dress still remains unknown which makes Adel’s purchase even more mysterious.

In order to preserve the family heirloom, Patricia went to one of the affiliated stores of Neiman Marcus for help. Being kept in a special light and dust protection packaging, the dress worn more than 50 years ago was perfectly ready for gracing Madison’s wedding that took place on April 9, 2016, at Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia.

After Adam put a ring once belonged to Simon on the ring finger of Madison, the lovebirds wed beneath a prayer shawl that belonged to her great-grandfather. “Everything was exactly as it should be,” Madison said.

After the marriage ceremony was completed, the bride changed the legendary dress to floral Adrianna Papell gown. Despite being eye-catching, the second dress was unable to make the same impression as the beaded gown of the fascinating lady from a distant past Adele Schiff Greene.

The dress helped not only to make the wedding outstanding and unique but also to ensure that beloved unmet grandmother had the ability to attend the special occasion of her granddaughter at least in spirit. “I knew that grandmother was kind of here,” Madison said, “and I know that this was especially important for my mother, Patricia.”

A Creative Mind – Sophia Webster

Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm. That is definitely told about Sophia Webster’s way to the top.

After graduation from the Royal College of Art, Sophia was an apprentice Assistant Designer in Nicholas Kirkwood. From that moment on Sophia started to come up with sophisticated ideas as for women shoe design. To her, it’s something more than just work. Sophia’s assured shoes are one of the most exquisite kinds of woman lifestyle accessory.

“I think shoes are really powerful. I think they have magical powers that other accessories don’t have. They make you stand in a different way. You hold your body differently. They make you physically look like the best version of yourself.”Says shoe designer Sophia Webster.

Early Years and First success.

The first time when her passion for shoes came to the surface was when Sophia was studying for her MA at Royall College of Art. There she caught an eye of Kirkwood, famous British footwear designer.

During the classes, she started to come up with her first ideas of unordinary shoe design and encountered a heavy critic from the mentors. They were telling her to give up on these ideas as it was looking “too commercial” as they said.

After graduation, she was invited to become an apprentice designerin Nicholas Kirkwood.

“Nicholas gave me a lot of freedom. He is so imaginative and has a strong vision of what he wants a shoe to look like,” she says. “But I did have to learn and do things his way, so it’s nice now to be completely selfish and do what I want to do.”

Sophia kept her point to the end, and on September 2012 she launched her first eponymous footwear line. The next year Conde Nast Footwear news named Webster the “Emerging Footwear Designer of the Year 2013.” And she also appeared on The Times 2013 New Power list as a new attendee. At the beginning of 2014, Marie Claire announced Sophia Webster as one of seven designers who will make the future of the British fashion. Further, Sophia received a considerable amount of rewards making her one of the most renowned woman lifestyle accessory designers in the world.

Webster’s style.

Webster’s woman lifestyle collections test the imagination thanks to their playful, fashion-forward styles.

For some time, she was gathering inspiration from Brazil and various artists. All of her masterpieces shining with the vibrant colors (think of neon yellow, pastel blue, and hot pink). Whimsical motifs and funky materials are prevailing in her set. Styles range from platforms and kitten heels to flats beaded with decorations inspired by various sources. Each of her piece makes a statement, whether it’s lace-ups with laser-cut flamingos or polka-dot block heels. Her favorite pièce de résistance of summer woman lifestyle collection is a sleek ankle strap sandal representing Rio-de-Janeiro sunset, complete with a palm tree.

Inspiration and a blank canvas.

Nowadays after Sophia’s company grown from 30 employees to an enterprise that sells its goods in more than 200 countries, she still surprises her public with every release. Woman lifestyle accessories are never the same and completely different from one another. But how is it possible for all these years of hard work and production to create something new, not even close to what was before? Sophia says one of her constant sources of inspiration is music. She never takes headphones off when she’s working. Usually, after hearing a new fascinating song, she starts to burst with ideas, as she says, and rushes to create a new model starting from the most extraordinary parts. This is a usual way she creates most of her woman lifestyle accessories.

Another source of inspiration is movies.

“I definitely look to films, and I’m a big Tim Burton fan. My 2016 autumn-winter collection was inspired by Beetle juice movie.”

Sophia takes a lot of time watching movies and then representing them in her woman lifestyle collections.

As Sophia says, she sees a shoe like a blank canvas and applies all her inspired-mind ideas on it to bring colors and unique view.

These days

After all, it’s not surprising that even on the present moment, Sophia Webster keeps presenting brand-new and outstanding woman lifestyle accessories. In her flagship retail store that was opened just a year ago, on Mayfair’s Mount Street in London she presents all her recent masterpieces. To add, even the interior design inside the building translates her signature brand codes into a brick. Furniture boasts with different-color palettes and cleverly combined details from her cult footwear collections. We all hope that Sophia won’t stop surprising the fashion’s world with her constantly new and specific footwear and will continue to build the future of woman lifestyle accessories.
